Louis Dreyfus Company (LDC) has added a new fixed cargo crane to its General Lagos Port Complex, one of the country’s leading agro-industrial terminals. The cutting-edge crane, designed to operate under demanding environmental and logistical conditions, is now fully operational.
Powered by shore-based electricity, the crane reduces pollutant emissions and features automation technology that enhances the safety and efficiency of loading and unloading operations. It includes intelligent systems such as SmartGrip and sector restriction functions, developed to optimize performance in high-demand bulk terminals.
LDC stated that this addition aims to boost the terminal’s river reception capacity, particularly for cargo from northern Argentina, Paraguay, and Bolivia. The investment aligns with the sustained growth of grain transport along the Paraguay-Paraná Waterway, a critical corridor for Argentine exports.
The complex already had a similar crane from a previous model. The new unit integrates into the port’s daily operations, handling barge unloading tasks, enhancing logistical efficiency, and reinforcing LDC’s commitment to modern, sustainable infrastructure, aligned with global trade challenges.
The crane’s manufacturer highlighted that this is the first unit of its model installed in South America, marking a milestone in the regional expansion of their port terminal solutions.
LDC continues to position itself as one of Argentina’s leading export operators, focusing on technological innovation and the continuous improvement of its strategic facilities in the Industrial Corridor.
