From the Federation of Workers of the Industrial Oilseed Complex, Cotton Ginners, and Related Workers of the Argentine Republic (FTCIODyARA), we inform our fellow oilseed and cotton ginning workers, internal union commissions, grassroots delegates, and affiliated unions that our union organization is joining the 24-hour General Strike called by the General Confederation of Labor (CGT) for next Thursday, April 10.
This General Strike is part of a 36-hour Union Action Day that begins on Wednesday, April 9 at 12 PM, with acts and mobilizations that will take different forms across the national territory, as determined by each of the 77 CGT Regional Branches.
The FTCIODyARA has resolved to join due to its affiliation with the CGT and its agreement with the reasons driving this measure, which have been publicly expressed by the General Confederation of Labor:
- Rejection of the wage cap imposed by the government and the demand for the approval of already negotiated agreements.
- An emergency increase for retirees and a proposal to update the bonus.
- An increase in the budget for public education and public health.
- An end to policies that destroy national industry, the resumption of public works, and the implementation of a National Employment Plan with greater balance and social justice.
- A demand that the national government respect and guarantee the constitutional right to protest, as well as the freedoms and rights achieved by various social groups.
