The statement is signed by the Board of Directors of the Union of Oil Workers and Employees of Rosario and reads as follows:

“All alarms are sounding in light of the publicly known events related to the violent raid on private homes and the arrest of the union leaders and representatives of AMSAFE Rosario, ATE Rosario, and the Autonomous CTA Rosario. This act of union persecution aims to intimidate the labor movement as a whole, and particularly those organizations that have been resisting, in various ways, the attacks on the working class led by the national and provincial governments.

Our union cannot stand idly by in the face of such an outrage and attack on the workers and leaders who are fighting. Therefore, we will continue to exercise the muscle of the strike, in this case with an active stoppage in the workplaces, in solidarity with the attacked union organizations and the persecuted and detained colleagues. At the same time, we reaffirm that we will not allow, under any circumstances, an assault on the right to freely exercise union activities.

We demand the immediate release of the detained colleagues, the guarantee of full protection of their integrity, and respect for due process. Finally, we also demand clarification of the facts.”
