The National Transport Board announced a general strike for October 30th.

It is important to highlight that this action is part of the “General Struggle Plan” developed by the National Transport Board in response to the labor policies of Javier Milei’s government and to defend the rights of all workers.

“The trade union organizations within the National Transport Board are convinced that a prosperous country cannot be built on the wealth of a few and the misery of the majority. On the contrary, true national development must include the demands of social justice, ensuring the well-being and fair compensation of the workers who contribute to the development of our economy,” the unions stated in a circular. They added, “Besides playing a vital role in wealth creation, we are central to maintaining territorial connectivity and upholding our national sovereignty.”

In this context, they expressed regret that “from its beginning, the current national government has unilaterally advanced public policies that have impacted workers’ wages and labor rights. These include a direct attack on trade unions, aiming to weaken them.” They reaffirmed their commitment to union freedom, collective bargaining, the right to strike, and the defense of national sovereignty.

The meeting was attended by over a thousand delegates from 50 national transport unions, including leaders like Juan Pablo Brey (Aeronavegantes), Omar Maturano (La Fraternidad), Pablo Moyano and Omar Pérez (Truck Drivers), Juan Carlos Schmid (Fempinra), Roberto Coria (Guincheros), Pablo Biró (APLA), Beto Pianelli and Néstor Segovia (Subway Delegates), Raúl Durdos (SOMU), Marcelo Pariente (ASIMM), Jorge García (Taxi Drivers), and Graciela Aleñá (Road Workers).

It is worth noting that the National Transport Board is composed of various unions that are part of the Argentine Confederation of Transport Workers (CATT) and the General Union of Transport Workers’ Associations (UGATT).
