Transportation costs increased by 2.66% in June, totaling a 58.71% rise in the first half of 2024 and 262.1% over the past year, according to the Argentine Federation of Freight Business Entities (Fadeeac).
The main cost drivers are fuel, labor, and investments in equipment, with significant implications for logistics efficiency. Despite these increases, logistics costs in Argentina remain low compared to Latin America, thanks to productivity improvements and technological advancements. However, hidden costs associated with delays, road conditions, and regulatory burdens pose additional challenges for the sector.
Cedol President Hernán Sánchez emphasized that logistics costs have a minimal impact on final product prices due to continuous efficiency gains and advanced technologies. The focus on short-term solutions amid economic volatility affects investment planning and profitability. Different regions face varying logistics costs influenced by local economic activity, taxes, and fuel prices.
